In Loving Memory of Anke-Lisa Fricke

It is with the deepest sadness that we share the passing of one of our cherished members, Anke-Lisa Fricke (née Paul), last Wednesday the 20th of November, after a courageous battle with cancer. Anke-Lisa was only 38 years of age and leaves behind a loving and devoted husband, Henning, and family who adored her.

Not only was Anke-Lisa a valued member of AIEC, but she was also an integral part of our Technical Delegate body. Representing Germany, her journey as an international student rider began in 2010. Shortly afterwards, she was granted the status of AIEC TD. Nationally, she was an active member of both the Berlin and Munich student riding groups in Germany, where she attended countless CHUs. AIEC-SRNC Switzerland (Bern) 2017 was the last competition she attended as a rider, competing for the Oldies Team alongside longtime fellow student riders Mihnea Virgolici (ROM) and Caroline van der Heyden (BEL).

Her energy, spirit, and incredible warmth left a lasting impression on everyone she met. The news of her passing comes as a profound shock to our community, and she will be greatly missed. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and husband during this difficult time.

A memorial for Anke-Lisa will be held in Munich on Friday, the 29th of November, at 12.00 noon local time. For those of you who wish to attend, please contact AIEC here if you have not already been in touch with her family directly. For those who cannot attend but would like to pay their respects, you are invited to make a donation to the Christophorus Hospiz Verein in her memory. All donations can be made here.

Any student riders who would like us to pass on a special message of condolence, or photographs and memories celebrating her life, please email anke.td@aiecworld.com. AIEC will collect these tributes and pass them on to her family. Please include your name and contact details in the body of the email.

There are no words to adequately articulate our grief. Anke-Lisa: you were loved and cherished by so many of us. Rest in peace.
