AIEC regretfully announces its decision to withdraw with immediate effect any and all support and assistance from the upcoming WUEC (World University Equestrian Championship) 2006 in La Rochelle, FRANCE.
The Executive Committee of AIEC has come to this decision after more than a year of intensive preparation work, which includes the complete elaboration of the adjusted technical regulations as well as many various administrative, supervisory, and consultory elements, resulting in countless and vain attempts to establish a working communication with the French Organising Committee.
The OC refuses all cooperation with AIEC and does not recognize the status, authority, or presumed responsibilities of AIEC neither during the planning, the organisation, nor at the WUEC 2006 event itself despite FISU's acknowledgment and confirmation in this same matter.
The OC submitted its own version of technical regulations for the event, completely ignoring the authoritative version elaborated and submitted by AIEC in cooperation with the FISU CT Equestrian. AIEC deems the version of the regulations submitted by the OC as well as certain aspects of the proposed program of the event to be conflicting with the interests and expectations of student riding events in particular, and the spirit of student riding in general. AIEC cannot approve of such solo attempts for major changes to the system and the idea of international student riding by a group of individuals with no relevant, if any, connection to the active international university equestrian sport.
AIEC refuses to assume any responsibilities at an event for any actions, situations, or their consequences, which it has not had and still does not have any influence on.
After thorough reflection and consideration, AIEC does not see any possibility at the present late point in time anymore to still redress without even further complications all of the required issues, which AIEC deems absolutely necessary and crucial to the success of an international student riding event at the expected high standard of a world championship.
AIEC points out that its decision to withdraw from the WUEC does not have any impact on the participation of its members at the event itself. The event will take place as announced by FISU and the French OC.
AIEC has informed FISU, the OC, and all AIEC NRs about this decision.
A detailed list of all objections, issues and problems will be presented to the National AIEC Responsibles at the upcoming Extraordinary General Assembly taking place during the AIEC-SRNC Switzerland 2006.
