In Loving Memory of Georgie Campbell

AIEC is incredibly sad to learn of the tragic passing of a treasured member of our international student riding community, Georgie Campbell (née Strang), following a fatal accident whilst competing at the Bicton International Horse Trials in Devon, England, on Sunday the 26th of May.

Georgie was a student at Nottingham Trent University, where she joined her university equestrian team. She was a member of the gold medal winning team at the British National Student Equestrian Championships in 2009. From 2010 to 2012, Georgie was selected to represent Great Britain at international student riding level, during which time she had a huge impact on the British team and became a much loved member of the AIEC family.

Georgie made her Student Riders Nations Cup (SRNC) debut in 2010, and enjoyed many successes, including reaching the dressage final during SRNC Italy in 2011. Undoubtedly a highlight of her international student riding career was being selected to represent Team Great Britain at the World University Equestrian Championships (WUEC) in South Korea in 2010, where she, along with her fellow team mates, won the silver medal in Team Dressage. A truly fantastic achievement.

Not only was Georgie an exceptionally talented rider, she was also a remarkably kind and compassionate person, and a terrific team player. A competitor, a teammate, a friend, but most importantly, a student rider always.
